MAIN PAINS OF GOLF PLAYERS

Experience has made me discover what the main pains of golf players are. I leave them below to see if you can relate:

  • Regarding the golf swing technique: Slice, heavy shots, sharp edges and the feeling of losing distance, even if you make a great effort.
  • There are those who have been stuck in the same handicap for a long time. They even see how it is going up, instead of going down.
  • Golf players who have been through one or more teachers in their area, but who have not fully trusted them.
  • Having the feeling of practicing a lot, throwing a lot of balls, but seeing that you are a little lost or not knowing if you are doing it the right way.
  • And finally: “On the practice tee I do great, then on the golf course I don't know what happens to me”.

Player, in this golf class in Spanish you will see a series of tools that will help you transform your golf and relieve all these pains. Whatever your level is.

THE MAGIC FORMULA

The first thing you have to know is that there are no magic formulas, those fantastic drills or tips that promise you that you will finish the slice in 10 minutes are not real. They are sales tools for magazines, at the time. For YouTube gurus, now. And for the sale of online golf lessons.

THE ONLY FORMULA magic is: REPETITION and CONSTANCE. As in any other discipline. Think about something you do well, your job, your other hobby. How much time have you spent mastering it?

So why do you think it will be different with golf?

In this class you will see how I approach training to improve in golf. How I have prepared the methodology for my online consulting. I'm going to leave you the link about it, but I don't want to seem like I want to sell it to you. Simply, if you like what you are reading, go to that link, also share it with your colleagues in pain. I'm not going to repeat it again. I promise you.

ONLINE ADVICE

Let's get started!

I think that the basis, I say I believe, THE BASE of any improvement is awareness, it is knowing what situation your golf is in, what your current routines are, how your ball flies, what thoughts you have during your hitting routine, what you train and how long you train it, etc…

After this, the key will be to mark a path. Have some good concepts and routines to follow.

HOW DO I DO IT?

First of all, I have developed a questionnaire that I have all golf players fill out. About the state of their game, the different segments of the stock market... To know what they think, what idea they have about their game. You can do this yourself: stop for a second to reflect, think objectively about your golf and ask yourself a series of questions.

Then I have developed some evaluation tests, through which we are going to set the reference level at which the putt, the chip and the bunker are located. Also a practice tee test where the player will analyze his shots with all the club segments.

You can't imagine how many golf players have a mistaken belief about their game. They believe that they are “not bad at putting” when the reality is that their level is far below what it should or could be. OR They think that their ball is going to the right, but they do not identify that the ball comes out to the left of the target and ends up to the right of it, A SLICE. If before planning training you do not analyze and create a situation map, you will be much less effective and efficient.

First recommendation, begin at the beginning .

EXERCISES TO IMPROVE IN GOLF

Now I am going to share with you the training routines that I do weekly. But first, let me tell you what the keys to these exercises are for me to improve in golf:

  • They should be easy exercises to execute.
  • They must be routines with a beginning and an end. Keep them short!
  • They should be aware. Plan and record what happens in each workout.
  • The mental routine within training is essential. Create habits and routines that help you function better in stressful situations.

These exercise routines to improve in golf must include: short game practice, long game practice and playing on the course. I share with you an exercise from each of them:

“2 STEPS” CHIP EXERCISE

This exercise involves choosing a chip shot and repeating it 20 times. For example, from the green edge, half a meter outside, to a flag that is 9 meters away. Choose the suit you want, I usually vary and choose the suit that I normally would NOT play, so I stress myself a little more. It helps me develop skills and sensations. Choose the hole you want and the club you want; You're going to run it twenty times.

Each of the repetitions you must do exactly the same routine, physically and mentally, I have already talked to you in other classes about the routine, I am not going to repeat it in this one. You must note whether you do the complete routine or not, also if the chip shot is two steps from the hole or less and, very interesting, how the contact with the ball was.

“6X5” PRACTICE TEE EXERCISE

On the driving range I like to do this routine once a week. I go through all the segments of the bag. There are six series of five balls each. Each of the series is for a different objective and with a different suit. Starting and ending with a medium wedge shot, going through the medium irons, long irons, hybrids, woods and even the Driver.

For each ball you must write down whether you did your complete routine, the direction in which the ball came out and how the contact with it was. There must be a previous warm-up and, to separate the series of balls, it is advisable to do an exercise to seek some sensation of swing. Taking into account that this practice is not aimed at improving the golf swing technique.

“SELF-IMAGE” FIELD GAME EXERCISE

Possibly the exercise that I like the most. It's about playing on the golf course. The holes you want, the modality you want, but always complying with the rules of golf. Because I like?

Because instead of focusing on the result, on the statistics and on the bad shots you have taken, we are going to turn it around. What you are going to write down are the good things you do on the course: Birdies, pars, your best putt, your best tee shot, etc... This is how you work on your self-image.

Even from a very bad return you can get positive things. Focusing on them will increase confidence and increase enjoyment of the journey.

The result? We accept whatever happens to us that day.

IMPROVE GOLF SWING TECHNIQUE

We should always add the technical improvement of the golf swing and the improvement of skills for all situations that can occur on the golf course. If not, getting out of that stagnation will be really difficult. For that, I have a Video Library with 30 exercises to improve in golf: 10 for golf swing technique laboratory, 10 for skills for the golf course and 10 for getting in shape. These are the best exercises, with which I have stayed after many years. It is true that it is a living video library of golf exercises, I am constantly adding and removing exercises. I'm sharing some with you now so you can see them:

GOLF SWING TECHNIQUE LABORATORY “END 3 SECONDS

As easy as holding the end of the swing for three seconds. It is true that the impact has passed and the ball is already flying. Think that the end of the swing is a product of inertia, recognizing that it is stable is a very good sign. Collecting the sensations by staying for three seconds will bring you many good things.

SKILLS FOR THE GOLF COURSE “TOUCHES ON THE FACE OF THE STICK

For example, there is one thing that many golfers find difficult: opening the SW face for short shots, especially in the bunker. This exercise of catching the ball from the ground with the SW and trying to touch the face with it raises your awareness of how the clubface is positioned. To be able to make several touches it must be COMPLETELY OPEN. If you do it with one of the less open wedges, the better. Try 52 degrees, for example.

GET IN SHAPE “THE IRON

If you ask me, an exercise to start with to get in shape, golf-oriented. I would tell you that the best and most complete is the iron.

An isometric exercise in which you involve many muscles in your body. You can add difficulty little by little. It also has a good number of variations.

To finish, I have to tell you, Player, that having a guide or support from a professional is

FUNDAMENTAL

. Find someone you can trust, with whom you feel comfortable. It is very difficult for the golfer, alone, to chart the most appropriate and shortest path to transform his golf. Not to mention, being able to lean on someone and experience evolution together is very nice. I love it.
